Visit a countryside winery with award winning wines – Botham Vineyards – in the Iowa County Uplands region on 900 acres of nature conservancy where Botham Vineyards and Winery grows and produces its grapes and wines. Botham Vineyards are about 26 miles SW of centrally located Madison.

Designed and built as a dairy farm in the early 1900, the circa-1900 hung barn was lovingly refurbished, and now houses the tasting room, gallery, gift shop and Back-Barn Lounge. An outdoor terrace provides spectacular view of the countryside. The old cattle shed provides office space. A 5000-square-foot new winery building was built in 2002.

An annual vintage car show is a proud tradition at the Botham Winery.

SPURGEON VINEYARDS

Welcome to Spurgeon Vineyards. Visit Spurgeon Vineyards and winery located just 5 miles west of Highland on County Hwy Q in the beautiful hills of Southwest Wisconsin with the winery nestled in the valley below. Winery is about 50 miles west of centrally located Madison. Spurgeon Vineyards specialize in dry, semi-sweet wines, fruit wines, mead honey wine and champagne. Glen and Mary Spurgeon purchased the land from her parents in 1977. That year Glen and Mary planted a half row of grapes. In 1978 put in 5 acres of grapes by  5 acre plantings in 1979, 1981 and 1982. Each acre contains 600 or more vines.

The original winery started in 1980 and their first grape harvest was in the autumn of 1981. On May 1, 1982, Glen and Mary opened their doors and poured their first commercial wines for customers to taste.

They have an Annual Harvest Festival event in October and their Christmas Open House

Try some Proprietor’s Reserve Red, Harvest Red, Wisconsin Cranberry, Sweet Cherry, Apple Wine, A Cabernet Sauvignon, Highland White, Ice Maiden, Safe Harbor, St Pepin and numerous other varieties.
